About Julia Chanel Olvera
I have always been interested in all areas of health. In elementary school I started a “pick up trash” club to better our environmental wellness and throughout school, I wanted to help others emotionally by befriending the “one” who would stay apart from the group. I served a mission for my church in Peru where we not only helped with physical projects but also by uplifting others spiritually. I also volunteered in China as a foreign English teacher to help with their children’s occupational health and on BYU-I campus teaching college skills to help at risk students with their mental health.When I had the opportunity to work in the Wellness Center, I was ecstatic. Here we focused on the needs of students and teachers at BYU-I who may or may not have already had diseases and coached them to achieve personal goals of total wellness. Now, as a stay at home mom, I'm putting theory into practice with my own children.
