Julia is an experienced writer, health advocate, and workshop facilitator. She has been contributing for The New Yorker’s Shouts and Murmurs section since 2015, and she is the author of “Love Voltaire Us Apart: A Philosophers' Guide to Relationships" (Icon Books). Her work has been featured in People, New York Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Cosmopolitan, McSweeney’s, Food and Wine, The Believer, SPIN, and more. She has written for animated TV for shows such as Ben 10 (Cartoon Network), and Power Players (Netflix). She has also sold her own original show, Wallflower, to Freeform.She facilitates Embodied Writing Workshops that combine ecstatic dance and guided journaling to create a community around chronic illness and art therapy.
