As a worldwide technical service specialist for the BD Biosciences BioImaging Systems product portfolio, I developed relationships with internal and external customers to troubleshoot software, hardware, or application issues, answer any questions, and collect feedback. Using this feedback, I acted as the customer advocate during discussions of product modification and future software releases. Many of these customer relationships are still maintained today. I was asked to be the technical instrument representative during multiple in-house sales demonstrations and helped the customer understand the technical capabilities of the instrument and software. Additionally, I designed and conducted customer training sessions as well as new technical service employee training.While in the role, I also managed multiple projects, both to bring in a CRM package for BioImaging and to launch an instrument upgrade. As a result of my success in this role, I was allowed to pursue business development activities during 25% of my time during which I performed market analysis to evaluate whether an instrument acquired through a merger would be appropriate to introduce to the mid-throughput immunoassay market. I gathered data from lengthy market reports, interviewed prospective and current customers, and analyzed the financials of the market space.

As a systems engineer in the Engineering R&D group, I designed, developed, and tested electromechanical and optical components of the Pathway systems (confocal microscopy). I also worked with the marketing team to translate marketing specifications into technical specifications, and developed metrics for evaluating whether or not these specifications were met. I led the verification and validation effort for the laser-based auto-focus system which has proven robust over 5 years of field use.I began to introduce this R&D group to medical device design and development processes, instituting design notebooks, formalized specifications, testing protocols, and test result reports. Additionally during this role, I led a core team through the PACE process for the Pathway improvement project.
