I am currently a Program Manager on the RAPID team at AIChE. My work with RAPID includes technical project management, preparing proposals for federal funding opportunities, conducting Technology-to-Market assessments, and developing community benefits plans. Prior to joining AIChE, I was the Research and Development Manager at Integra Beauty where I worked cross functionally to innovate and support product development. Before this role, I was the Asphalt Sustainability and Coating Leader at Owens Corning. In this role, I managed a portfolio of technology development projects and a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to drive innovation for roofing and industrial applications. This included leading an asphalt testing laboratory and managing laboratory operations and test requests to support product and process research and development. Prior to starting my career at Owens Corning, I attended graduate school at the University of Michigan and defended my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in October 2015. My dissertation research investigated the hydrothermal liquefaction of microalgae to produce biocrude oil. Hydrothermal liquefaction involves reacting algae in water at high temperatures and pressures in only a few minutes, avoiding energy-intensive drying steps required for some other biomass conversion processes.
