During my first year at Dame, I managed 3 engineers and collaborated with them to maintain the timeline of upwards of 5 independent projects. I implemented or contributed to procedure concerning hardware timelines, budget, new product development, and hiring.

As the sole mechanical engineer on the hardware team, I designed and executed cost reductions that improved margins by $1M in my first year. This included redesigning the waterproofing method on our device that decreased labor costs from 2 hours to 10 minutes, the materials from $10 per unit to $3, and the IP68 testing also increased from 80% success to virtually 100%. I have shifted additional projects to more affordable manufacturers while redesigning multiple features to continually improve cost of the BOM, labor, while also improving the quality and performance of these products. My first year at goTenna was spent redesigning the current product line, and my second year was spent laying the groundwork for the next generation product- taking the redesigns from the first year and applying them from the start to optimize pricing, performance, and delivery timelines.

I participate in product design and manufacturing for a collection of fashion-forward sexual health products. I make formal specifications for the designs to communicate to manufacturers, sourced the manufacturers, and manage the sample and production timelines. Managing timelines entailed putting in late hours on calls to international manufacturers working to troubleshoot design changes and ensuring accurate communication.When I took over as lead for the collection in 2016, I reduced sample making time from 5 months to 3 weeks due to my detailed documentation and hands-on management of our manufacturers. In addition to improved timelines, this tactic also greatly improved our vendor relations.In a three week window, I sourced a manufacturer and managed a full production for an Unbound product for the quarterly subscription box. Adhering to this short timeline allowed Unbound to ship out their November 2016 box on time with a branded product. This was important for customer satisfaction as well as increasing brand recognition. Later, I sourced a manufacturer and managed a full production of an Ally safety pin jewelry piece in a two week time window. This was in response to the 2016 election and was a part of a feminist collection that rocketed Unbound into the public eye. The fast turn around of this production was pivotal to the success of the Ally pin. While my engineering background helped the collection become a reality, my time at Unbound has taught me an absurd amount about branding, marketing, and content creation.
