I worked in the Specialty Services department at Angell full-time for six months as part of Northeastern University's co-op program. At the end of my six month internship, I continued to work at Angell on a part-time basis. I worked primarily with the General Medicine, Avian/Exotics, and Oncology departments and assisted with appointments by taking patient histories, updating patient files, restraining patients, and administering vaccines. Additionally, I aided in the care of the avian and exotic inpatients by providing general husbandry and administering daily medicines.

I worked at the New England Wildlife Center and Odd Pet Vet full-time for six months as part of Northeastern University's co-op program. I aided in the regular care of the patients at the center by performing daily medical treatments such as injections, oral medications, and physical therapy. I also managed animal husbandry by preparing diets, assist feeding animals, cleaning, and designing and maintaining enclosures. I ran in-house lab work involved in basic hematology and fecal reports. I also handled medical records, took patient histories, and entered patient information into the computer database. Additionally, I helped educate visitors on wildlife safety and conservation by giving tours to small groups and by monitoring the wildlife hotline and responding to general wildlife questions and concerns via phone call.

I worked in the Human Resources department, and helped to evaluate job applications and assist the applicants. I also organized employee data on excel, eCMS, and B2W, and handled worker’s compensation claims and unemployment claims. I managed weekly and monthly taxes, and prepared all materials for annual business audits. When needed, I ran the weekly payroll, submitted payroll files to the bank, and printed and sent out the weekly paychecks.
