I am a retired attorney now embarking on my “third act” as a consultant to non-profits. For the majority of my 27-year legal career, I specialized in intellectual property law with a focus on trademark, copyright, and false advertising. Prior to that, I taught students with severe special needs. The most meaningful part of my legal career was getting to work with talented and dedicated colleagues as part of a strong team. We engaged with enthusiasm and grit and achieved some amazing things. I was lucky enough to have great mentors, and enjoyed (and still enjoy) mentoring others. I especially value the opportunities I was given to volunteer for and hold leadership positions in a variety of bar associations and legal agencies devoted to the fair and just administration of law. I have served on a number of boards of directors, and previously chaired the boards of the Boston Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, Greater Boston Legal Services, and Equal Justice Coalition of the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation.I now follow my passions through various consulting engagements and volunteer commitments. My current priorities include nonprofit governance, mentorship of attorneys seeking to advance in their practices and/or navigate challenges, racial justice, housing and zoning reform, reproductive freedom, environmentalism, advocating for plant-based eating as a tool to combat climate change and promote health, and Unitarian Universalism.
