Julia Labaton is the driving force behind dozens of successful public relations campaigns in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle industries. She founded RED PR in 2000 and, since then, has built a team of creative, communications-savvy professionals serving clients such as Natura Brasil, Dr. Michelle Henry and Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes. An accomplished leader in the public relations field and a highly resourceful brand builder, Julia has spearheaded numerous award-winning national and international campaigns along with hundreds of events in the beauty, fashion, and lifestyle industries. Her talent as a master team-builder and connector with an ever-growing professional network allows her to develop a highly specialized team of experts who continuously produce meaningful results for RED PR clients. PR News recognized Julia twice with Woman of the Year awards. She currently serves as Vice President for PR Boutiques International, a consortium of 30 leading small- to mid-sized PR agencies worldwide. Media relations is at the core of Julia’s business DNA, complemented by her creative vision. For example, with the mission of turning a little known professional mail brand into a trend leader, Julia was the first to showcase manicures and nail art on the international fashion runways leading to the mainstream manicure trends driving today’s multi-billion dollar nail industry. She was also responsible for the global communication strategy for the launch of CND Shellac which transformed the nail salon business. More recently, she’s been a key driver of awareness about the importance of textured hair education in partnership with Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes. Julia’s passion for the beauty industry began long before graduation from Mount Holyoke College. After school in junior high, she spent hours at the local Drug Fair studying all the hair, skin and makeup brands, and saving her spare dollars to purchase those that made the biggest impression like the customizable Revlon compacts. With a driver’s license secured at age 17, she began frequenting the Clinique counter at Lord & Taylor, faithfully buying Black Honey lipstick whenever there was a GWP..Julia lives in East Hampton and Manhattan. She swears by LIFTED workouts, and her morning walks with her rescue pitbulls Juju and Bella. Julia volunteers for Second Chance Rescue of New York and spends as much time at the beach as she can (with year-round sunscreen, of course.)
