As a Geriatric Fellow, I was able to really improve upon not only basic nursing skills, but also my critical thinking skills in an acute care setting. Through working and precepting with a RN one-on-one, I was able to gain influential knowledge about medical nursing procedures, as well as build upon the experience that Fairfield University has given me thus far. Upon completion of the fellowship, a fellow student and I conducted an evidence based research product on preventing pressure injury in our older patient population through audits of the unit as well as utilizing previous studies on the topic.
