My "why" — my professional purpose — is to build organizations that enable connection among their people (employees, managers, leaders, stakeholders) to live more fulfilled, integrated lives. I do this by helping business leaders create inclusive, connected, high performance environments that result in organizational success and thriving teams — that's my "how".My "what" to accomplish the above — the positions I've held and the approaches I've taken — has been varied but consistent: I have advised executives on organizational culture; I have coached and trained leaders on management and leadership skills around clarity, connection, and effectiveness; I have trained and led diverse groups in discussions about reimagining the role of management; I have enabled companies to harness listening programs for engaging their employees; I have partnered with client companies to create People Programs that create alignment. I have now been working on this why/how/what combination, at the cross-section of technology and organizational culture, for over a decade. The path that brought me there was winding. It included tech startups, blackjack, a beer company, a beloved Hollywood studio, a couple of social networks, and a global management consulting firm. Throughout all of these experiences, I was fascinated by what made my colleagues feel at home in their jobs — and what didn't. I found that to continually bring their whole selves to work and to thrive in their roles and beyond, people require a set of circumstances that they can harmonize with, and feel that they belong in. That’s why, though I have worked across a number of very different roles, I view their unifying trait as aiding in the search for connection and humanity at work.

Founder And Chief HumanistEmbrace The Human Aug 2023 - PresentThe increasing speed with which the business world's landscape is shifting threatens to override its most fundamental goal: to improve the lives of the people who sustain it. My practice — a combination of executive coaching, team facilitation, leadership development, and consulting engagements — is fueled by the potential I see in business leaders to lead (and win) with humanity, both by developing their own and encouraging that of their people. -
Director Of Program Strategy, Facilitator, And Executive CoachElevate Leadership Sep 2023 - PresentNationwide , UsElevate Leadership is a shining example of business done right: the cofounders, Lucy and Lindsey, lead with transparency, humility, and earnestness; our clients derive real value from the coaching, workshops, and asynch training we provide; our employees are passionate about the work they do and treat one another with respect, support, and admiration. I am incredibly grateful for having been brought together with this team, not just for the reasons already stated, but also because the work I do here — a combination of delivery and consulting — happens to also be fully aligned with my own purpose. -
Founding MemberTeal Team Sep 2018 - PresentTeal Team is an organization that was formed around the principles of Fredric Laloux's Reinventing Organizations, both in its mission and in its foundation: we were fascinated and inspired by companies and individuals around the globe that have been able to successfully build businesses using an "evolutionary teal" model, so we decided to both promote and emulate them. We have since grown organically into a group of passionate contributors striving to connect and enable the Teal community. -
Director, People Strategy GroupLattice Jun 2020 - Aug 2023San Francisco, California, UsAfter founding the People Strategy Group, I led Strategic Advisory at Lattice, partnering with clients and prospects to identify, develop, and communicate the right people strategy and program for their unique circumstances. In my time there, I advised over 250 individual People Teams, and worked across just about every internal function. It was a mission I was proud to work on (making work meaningful) and a team I was proud to work with. -
Executive CoachTalentism Llc Jul 2018 - Jul 2023Westport, Connectict, UsTalentism's mission is to systematically unleash human potential — a mission with which I identified immediately, and have only gotten more passionate about over time. I engaged with this mission in a number of ways while I was there: I helped others unleash their potential by being an executive Clarity Coach, I trained executive teams on Talentism's frameworks and IP, and I found myself on a journey of unleashing my own potential, constantly learning and experimenting with how my personal purpose, talents and opportunities are most at home. -
Head Of Tech & DataTalentism Llc Jan 2019 - Apr 2020Westport, Connectict, UsI managed the development of a data and technology platform that enables not just the leadership of a company, but the full management team, to systematically move toward clarity. -
FounderEmbrace The Human (Fka Orca) May 2018 - Jul 2020In my first foray into independent consulting, I partnered with leaders that recognized the power of organizational culture as strategy. I helped them assess, align and maintain their strategy & culture in orchestration with their employees. My work in this space spanned consulting, coaching, workshops and speaking engagements. -
Senior Advisor, Employee PracticeMedallia Aug 2018 - Jun 2020Pleasanton, California, UsAs a result of taking on some new challenges outside of Medallia, I moved to a part-time set-up, focusing on advisory work for some of our most complex clients. This role was one of my most gratifying at Medallia, as it was at the intersection of passionate clients who believe in the work they do, and brilliant professional services teams who bring to life the programs that make that work possible. -
Director, Global Leader, Employee PracticeMedallia Feb 2016 - Aug 2018Pleasanton, California, UsThe experiences, attitudes and wisdom of a company's employees are inextricable from that company's mission of creating an exceptional customer experience. To that end, I led Medallia's efforts in the Employee Engagement and Feedback space. Employee Programs enabled our clients to harness the wisdom and ideas of their front lines, driving change based on input from the people who know their customers best. By participating in each aspect of the Employee Practice - from the strategy, to the sales cycle, to the system implementation, to ongoing servicing - I got the opportunity to understand our clients' needs holistically, and build the practice's strategy with these needs in mind. -
Director, Product ManagementMedallia Apr 2015 - Feb 2016Pleasanton, California, UsAfter Medallia acquired the rights to the HuddleUp platform, I joined the Medallia family via the Product Management team, working directly on the Voice of Employee offering (including exploring how to integrate HuddleUp into Medallia's arsenal). I learned an invaluable amount about the ins and outs of PMing, delving specifically into Product Strategy and Product Operations as the team grew and morphed. -
Chief Customer OfficerHuddleup (Votetru Llc) Apr 2013 - Apr 2015As CCO I managed all that touched HuddleUp's customers, from the product, to marketing, to account management, and non-technical support. My role enabled me to see all sides of our business, and make real-time trade-offs and decisions. What I loved most about it, though, were the moments when I heard from a customer that HuddleUp made a difference in the way a team or department operated - that people were more open, that conversations sparked by our tool were leading to innovation, that employees were discovering a new side to each other. -
Senior Manager, Global Talent BrandLinkedin Aug 2012 - Feb 2013Sunnyvale, Ca, UsMy position entailed enabling a cultural understanding and cohesion across geographies and functions of LinkedIn, and communicating that identity to multiple audiences, starting with the employee base itself, and extending out to recruits, our member base and the rest of the world. The role is at a cross-section of (in no particular order) marketing, recruiting, employee experience, corporate communications and public relations. -
Senior Loyalty SpecialistBain & Company Nov 2011 - Aug 2012Boston, Ma, UsAs part of the NPS Loyalty Forum team, I worked directly with the co-authors of The Ultimate Question - Fred Reichheld and Rob Markey - to advance the field of both customer loyalty (via NPS) and employee advocacy (via eNPS). I created original material for Forum meetings, interfaced with Forum members on their experiences and progress, conducted research to understand best practices, educated the team and our members on findings, and enhanced the Forum infrastructure for optimal knowledge and experience-sharing. -
ConsultantBain & Company Feb 2010 - Oct 2011Boston, Ma, UsAs a Consultant in Bain's Bay Area office, I had the privilege of working on multiple teams across industries and business problems. The industries included Property and casualty insurance, Telecommunications, Retail, Private Equity, eCommerce, and Oil & Gas. The business problems included Product Strategy, Customer Loyalty (specifically NPS, brand and customer churn), Mergers & Acquisitions, and Organizational Restructuring. Once again, I was constantly learning and improving my skills in analysis, synthesis and communication. And I was starting to hone in on what it was that really inspired me.But the most important aspect of my job was the people I worked with. In the context of people and teams, my activities included: Presenting to, advising, collaborating with and debating with director and executive-level clients; Managing and mentoring colleagues and teammates in anything from data gathering and analysis to presentation and client interactions; Serving as an informal go-to for coworkers to seek advice about case work, interpersonal issues and career / school prospects. Finally, one of the most fulfilling roles I played at Bain was in organizing and participating in various culture-based activities. Some examples include being a school team lead in Recruiting for Stanford Business School, singing in the Bain Band, creating an interactive office competition called Battle of the Bays and helping to organize the Summer Offsite Meeting. -
Growth & InternationalFacebook Sep 2009 - Feb 2010I had seven months between graduating from business school and starting back up at Bain as a consultant. I wanted to do something different and exciting, and ended up on Facebook's Growth team, specifically focused on the Russian Federation. During my five months there, I tested out the potential for user growth in Russia and executed on the resulting company focus and investment in the market. Much of the activity was in the form of localized marketing strategies securing individual and company partnerships. This entailed wildly interesting travels to Moscow, during which I introduced Facebook capabilities and tools to potential partners in education, media, sports, brands and more. -
Digital Cinema Programming InternThe Walt Disney Studios Jun 2008 - Aug 2008Burbank, Ca, UsOne of the most interesting and unique cultures I've ever experienced, Disney offered so much more than just the opportunity to work in the cutting-edge space of digital cinema programming. Collaborating across multiple aspects of the business (e.g. marketing, programming, strategy, technology, and more), and even just walking through the lot every day, afforded me the opportunity to observe what it means to have real passion for what you do. In addition, I saw what customer loyalty looked like first-hand as I sat in on the customer focus groups that I ran as part of my assignment. -
Senior Associate ConsultantBain & Company 2003 - 2007Boston, Ma, UsBeing an AC at Bain was my first taste for normal corporate America. But what a trick to play - Bain, it turned out, was anything but normal. Here, I learned what it meant to support and be supported, to be accurate and 80/20 at the same time, to give and receive feedback, to see the forest through the trees, and to have a lot of fun while doing it. And of course, I got exposed to countless new industries and scenarios: what was the future of Open Source? How do you streamline a sales-driven organization without cutting headcount? What is the best way to combine eight different Business Development units at an acquisition-happy conglomerate? The steepness of the learning curve almost required cramp-ons, but I wouldn't trade that climb for the world. -
Brand Management AssociateBoston Beer Company Sep 2005 - Mar 2006Boston, Massachusetts, UsMy externship to Boston Beer exposed me to a perfect cross-section of a small, agile team and a well-structured, larger organization. I was part of the four-person Twisted Tea team, where anyone could be responsible for anything that came up. A few of my official responsibilities were to research, recommend and implement marketing vehicles in key US regional markets, to create state distribution plans and to analyze wholesaler potential for key demographic areas. But I also got to participate in our ad company selection, represent Twisted Tea at a hunting and fishing expo, and do in-person customer intercepts (at bars in Maine, where else?). And of course, do some taste testing. -
General ManagerBlackjack Science Mar 2004 - Aug 2004In late 2003, the book Bringing Down the House was published, and America's interest in blackjack was piqued - MIT students taking Vegas for millions!? How cool! Well it turned out that Semyon Dukach, the founder of SMPT.com and my employer, had also been the president of one of the MIT blackjack teams back in the day. So what else could we do? We toured the major US cities, offering two-day seminars on the techniques and history of the MIT blackjack teams.

Marketing DirectorSmtp.Com Sep 2003 - Aug 2004Woburn, Ma, UsMy first job out of undergrad was to create a marketing strategy for a web-based email services product. So after devouring a Marketing for Dummies book, I went to work. In the end, I think I ended up learning much more than I actually did, but a few accomplishments included a website overhaul, some product innovation, a new pricing strategy, and a failed guerrilla marketing campaign.
