I teach courses in Music and Movement, Language and Literacy, and Children's Literature.

This past year, I have had the amazing learning experience of being the head classroom teacher of 17 delightful kindergarten children in a private school in Brooklyn. Adding to my many years of storytelling, I have gained experience now in teaching Phonics, ELA, science, math, AND social studies. As always, I add my own brand of story, creative drama and movement.

-Developed lively, audience participation storytelling performances in a variety of venues, including the Provincetown Playhouse (Greenwich Village, NY), Scandinavia House, Tribeca Film Festival, and the H. C. This past year, I have worked as a Bank Street College facilitator in the 'PreK for All' program, specializing in training participants in Social Emotional Learning across the early childhood curriculum.

-Present interactive literacy experiences for classroom teachers and arts educators utilizing folklore, nursery rhyme, and mythology.-Delivered professional development workshops and performances emphasizing the Common Core Curriculum Initiative, social/moral development, and the integration of the arts.-Conducted workshops for more than 1,000 educators throughout New York State.

-Implement yearly residency programs which foster active literacy skills through immersion into oral narrative and ancient myth.-Designed original in-school projects, “Stories that Move and Sing” and “Animal Action Tales,” integrating elements of narrative with thematic-based social studies and science content.-Conducted participatory storytelling programs for over 300 children.

-Developed and implemented an early childhood arts-based training manual as a guide for classroom arts integration, peer coaching, and storytelling-in-education workshops. Utilized manual successfully in over 20 elementary schools.-Evaluated and coached teaching artists on curriculum planning and age-appropriate behavior management skills.-Scheduled and facilitated planning meetings between artists and classroom teachers in 10 elementary schools and early childhood settings.

-Instructed weekly classes devoted to participatory and kinesthetic storytelling geared for students preschool through 3rd grade.-Integrated Core Curriculum standards to foster inquiry skills and enrich genre-based writing.

-Co-taught story and poetry workshops for 10-20 adolescent girls based on the Amherst Teaching Model, utilizing imaginative prompts to ignite personal narratives.-Assisted in publication of participants’ writing in a New York Writer’s Coalition anthology.

-Taught 6 short-format courses on oral narrative as a teaching tool for early learning.-Designed and replicated curriculum for the college level in three different settings.

-Taught creative drama for in-school, after-school, and summer programs for over 500 students.-Directed, choreographed, and staged all culminating productions.

-Facilitated workshops, in conjunction with Masters Thesis, implementing teacher-led dramatic play.-Developed and implemented an expressive arts program for 100 three to five-year olds based onthe Reggio Emilio project-based approach to early education.
