Julian Edwards is CEO of MCE Insurance (UK) and MCE Insurance Company (Gibraltar) which specialise in the provision of motorbike insurance nationwide, employing nearly 400 people across the globe.Julian created the diversification of MCE by founding six highly innovative and successful independent companies. As CEO, Julian swiftly acquired these companies and merged their portfolios with the core MCE business to create the £150m revenue operation it is today. In addition to his role as CEO, Julian is Chair of the Executive Committee, Finance and Investment Committee, Claims Committee and is a member of Gibraltar Insurance Association (GIA) Motor Insurance Committee.University educated, Julian is committed to ensuring that all MCE employees have access to educational and professional development opportunities. He introduced an extensive education and qualifications programme throughout the business from which 178 individuals have graduated with Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications.MCE is one of the few businesses in the UK to have no gender pay gap and MCE has a clear commitment to create greater diversity in the workplace. This focus on professional development and workplace equality has seen MCE win many industry awards over the years.Julian’s commitment to education, development and diversity has extended to his work mentoring local school children, particularly those who have had challenging upbringings, where he has encouraged them to believe they can pursue a career in business. Julian is a member of the Bank of England Decision Maker Panel, a partnership formed between the University of Nottingham, Stanford University and the Bank to understand the uncertainties facing British business ahead of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. He is also an active member of the Association of British Insurers, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association and the GIA.
