As a lead consultant at Xynteo I am using leadership and organisational development interventions to help the world's biggest businesses develop sustainable products and services fit for the 21st century.

I head up the leadership development practice at Hult Ashridge Executive Education, helping to organise and energise our leadership faculty, enhance what we offer to our clients, develop new business, stimulate new thinking and research, and ensure what we do fulfils our organisational purpose. I also design and run leadership and organisation development programs directly for my own clients.

I work at Ashridge as a member of the teaching faculty, a facilitator and an OD consultant.My clients are mainly large, international public, private and voluntary sector organisations. In many cases they come to us because they feel cumbersome and incapable of adapting to, let alone shaping, the way their world is changing.In such cases I help them to understand why and to focus on specific changes they can make to rediscover their entrepreneurial spirit. We use real business, social or environmental problems they are working on as the catalyst for this change.So I firstly enable them to see their current organisational cultures, patterns of interaction, personal qualities, assumptions and biases through fresh eyes. Then we work on these real problems or opportunities with a new clarity and impetus. We then generate and trial a range of possible ideas and cultivate the support needed to sustain them.I lead and facilitate everything from classic residential leadership development programmes and Executive team offsites to whole organisation participatory research exercises, ad hoc creative and experimental workshops on specific topics, large group (200+) organisational interventions and small scale disruptive pilots.I draw on a range of disciplines and perspectives including anthropology, organisation development (OD), group psychology, social innovation, design thinking, complexity science and the use of social technology to aid collective sense-making.So at Ashridge I have multiple roles and responsibilities: as a client director, group and large event facilitator, business development lead, L&D programme designer, researcher, teacher, innovation catalyst, community organiser, OD consultant, coach, speaker and tea drinker.

During my time at the RSA my responsibilities included:Serving as a member of the Executive Team; shaping organisational strategy and activityLeading and line managing an action research team comprising over twenty experts in education, design, public policy, social enterprise, community development and behavioural psychologyOverseeing and developing a £9million action research project portfolio on topics ranging from environmental sustainability, education reform, social enterprise, welfare and employment, corporate social responsibility and community development.Chairing public lectures and debates with international experts on a wide range of subjectsOutreach and profile raising among RSA Fellows, partner organisations and wider stakeholdersRestoring the RSA's long heritage of work in Enterprise: focussing on socially responsible business, manufacturing, employment and skills. Leading and supporting research projects and thought leadership events on topics including: whole person approaches to drug addiction recovery and employment programmes, the future of green manufacturing, the role of business in community development, the role of human capital in organisations and the rise of self-employment.Reviving the RSA's 200 year-old tradition of running prize challenges. Securing funding and running challenges on human capital and disability, in partnership with organisations such as CIPD and Nesta.Semi-Finalist (in the final 30 out of nearly 4000 entries) in the 2014 pan-EU Social Innovation Competition with a concept to improve the employment prospects of adults on the autistic spectrum.

Rose from entry level posting to Research Director on an accelerated career path.Responsible for designing, winning, and leading major international and national research projects for clients including: the BBC, Vodafone, Toyota, HM Treasury, BIS, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Shell International, Unilever, Research Councils UK, Cabinet Office, Dept. of Health, Orange, Greater London Authority, LGA. Presenting findings to Board and Ministerial level clients.A founding member of the Qualitative Research Unit in 2001,where we pioneered many award-winning and high profile methods and projects over the subsequent years involving large scale public deliberative and participatory research, discourse and semiotic analysis, and ethnographic research. Line management responsibility for qualitative specialists.Alongside my qualitative work, in 2006 I created Ipsos MORI Horizons, a strategic futures consultancy practice providing services in horizon scanning, immersive large scale social simulations, knowledge sharing technology and scenario planning. Starting fresh with no pedigree in an entirely new market, this nonetheless brought in over £1million in new revenue in two years. Chief clients were the UK Government and various corporates.Lead member of various internal global and UK task forces working to improve the strategic direction knowledge management and product development of the company. Created, rolled out and curated a still-used wiki-based company wide knowledge sharing technology platform to combine the knowledge of thousands of researchers worldwide.
