Our lives are never short of things worth learning, or of other lives on which we can make a positive impact. My raison d'être is to understand the needs and perspectives of our society and use what I know to improve the lives of those around me.Although I was born and raised in Sydney, I have spent about half my life abroad living in Southeast Asia and the United States. My experiences living amongst various walks of life have enabled me to embrace the unknown and never pass up an opportunity to embark into unchartered territory.I am always up for a challenge and strive to push myself in whatever I do. I received Dean’s Honors List in economics from the University of California, Davis, and have applied myself in a broad range of academic pursuits, including computer science, economics, Chinese language, history, and statistics. I also enjoy teaching as much as I do learning, and have expressed this passion through my experience of four years as a private and university tutor.I have endeavoured to apply these passions and skills in my life experience and continue to do so in my career today. Working as a data engineer at Microsoft, and later as a full-stack engineer at Twitch and TikTok specialising in consumer advertising products, I have accrued a broad array of technical design and development skills, along with experience in being an effective technical thought leader and product manager. I strongly believe in the importance of manifesting the desire to give back to society through demonstrable action. I regularly volunteered at the NSW Rural Fire Service as a firefighter for three years and worked as a poll worker at the Australian Electoral Commission. The time I spent volunteering in my early tertiary education was formative in my outlook today, and I strive to continue trying to make the world better in the modest way that I can.
