Julian Stevens has been Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He was the hospital’s first Director of Refractive Surgery. Mr Stevens is a highly skilled and specialist surgeon, with more than 25 years’ experience performing life-changing vision correction procedures. He is caring and passionate about his work and surgery, and is highly driven to achieve the best possible visual outcomes.He is a specialist in laser refractive surgery and also advanced cataract and lens surgery with a world renowned reputation for clinical knowledge, expertise and results. Top of his year in medicine, Merton College, University of Oxford Julian Stevens won a scholarship to study Medicine at Merton College, University of Oxford, where he was then awarded a Postmaster scholarship. He graduated top of his year in 1980.Further clinical training at the University of CambridgeHe continued his clinical medical training at Clare College, University of Cambridge and at the Cambridge Medical School, graduating with distinction. After completing training, he undertook two years of further sub-specialist training, with fellowships in lens/cataract, corneal and then a specialist fellowship in refractive surgery.Royal College of Ophthalmologists certified. The Royal College sets the standards for professional practice and champions excellence in ophthalmology. Julian Stevens is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and holds the certification of the Royal College in laser refractive surgery.Mr Stevens trains Ophthalmic Surgeons in advanced refractive and cataract surgery and founded the Moorfields IntraLASIK, wavefront training courses and the advanced femtosecond laser cataract surgery course. Mr Stevens delivered forward thinking lectures to students at Harvard Medical School, Boston in December 2014.Mr Stevens finished NHS work and left Moorfields Eye Hospital and consults in private practice at 14 Queen Anne Street, London.
