    I led semiconductor quantum optics and ultrafast laser research within a multidisciplinary environment, including creating and managing a new, $2M state-of-the-art research laboratory, that advanced the next generation of high-performance computing and telecommunications defense technologies. I also procured $2.5M in grants to augment the lab's budget.Our lab worked in the visible, near-IR and mid-IR optical regimes. We used non-linear effects in photonic crystal nanocavities and single photon on-demand and entangled photon pair sources. We performed complex electrical simulations using a Poisson finite-element semiconductor device solver and finite difference time domain FDTD optical field modeling.Additionally, I worked with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) and cryogenic experimentation from concept through completion phases.Key Accomplishments:• Achieved multiple R&D breakthroughs, including design of an ultra-low energy photonic crystal nanobeam electro-optic modulator.• Designed an attojoule/bit optical modulator.• Cultivated collaborations with Pennsylvania State University, University of Dayton, University of Massachusetts, and University of Washington that generated data, proposals, and publications.• Conducted characterization of quantum dots and metal nanoparticles using an ultrafast optical parametric amplifier light source, 4K cryostat, and g(2) apparatus comprised of single photon counters.
