Since 2016, I have helped this small social service nonprofit communicate with their donors and prospects, seek and apply for grant funding, and complete a successful $3.5 million capital campaign.

Corcoran & Co. provided guidance, help, and training to some of Austin's largest nonprofits -- and plenty with no staff at all. Our clients included the Austin Ed Fund, People's Community Clinic, Open Door Preschool, Bookspring, Austin Waldorf School, the Dripping Springs Community Library, and many more. The agency closed in 2023.

Austin Children's Shelter and SafePlace formed an alliance in 2012 and eventually merged to become The SAFE Alliance in 2016. I served on the leadership teams for both organizations as well as the newly formed team that governed the alliance and eventual merged organization. My duties included preparing direct mail appeals, annual reports, all event communications, newsletters, websites, social media, press releases, videos, brochures, op-eds and more. I was the primary media contact and developed an organizational crisis communications plan. Between 2012 and 2014, SafePlace achieved a 350% increase in direct mail revenues and a 170% increase in newsletter revenues under my direction. I managed a staff of three employees between the two organizations.

I helped Corcoran clients with all aspects of fundraising, including writing grants, developing effective sponsorship and solicitation materials, maintaining daily operations, and strategic planning. Clients included People’s Community Clinic, The Contemporary, Kids in a New Groove, and the Zilker Kite Festival.

I managed the marketing, promotion, and communications at a K-8 Episcopal school. My duties included a major brand identity project as part of the school's strategic plan, as well as managing and producing all the school's communications for external audiences, parents, media, and students. This included ad design/placement, maintenance of the school's website, and creation of a new alumni magazine, for which the school won a 2008 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Silver Award. I was responsible for all parent communications and media relations and served on the school's administrative team, helping to create and enforce school policies.

Wrote press releases, editorials, and other materials for local public relations firm.

Managed all aspects of the Texas Multimedia Program, including the creation of the first online searchable database of ISPs, game companies, and web- and graphics-related businesses. Handled press and public relations for the program. Additionally, served as public information officer and marketing director for the Texas Film Commission, including planning and production of all agency publications, including the annual 300-page Texas Production Manual.

Wrote and edited feature stories and editorials for distribution to daily newspapers across the state.Wrote, edited, and coordinated production and distribution of public education and publicity materials, including newsletters, training brochures, conference materials, and annual reports.Developed presentations and displays on specific subjects for workshops, conferences, and trainings across the state. Worked to bring the "Silent Witness" program to Texas.

Oversaw all marketing, advertising, and public relations, including trade show displays.Wrote, edited, and coordinated production and distribution of all agency publications.Maintained several libraries, archives, and databases.Collected and published economic impact and budget data relating to the film industry.Drafted and edited correspondence for the Director's and the Governor's signatures.
