While I didn't grow up in a small town, I loved reading about them. My favorite books took place in small villages and neighborhoods — Anne of Green Gables, Pollyanna, Heidi. I loved them for their realism, holding a magnifying glass to characters' ordinary lives and making meaning out of them. I realized that that's how my brain works, fixated on the little moments before I'm able to appreciate the big.I’ve made a career listening to people talk about what matters to them — often the key to discovering how public affairs impact people on the ground. My motto? Look for the little things. Being intentional about stopping to see others has revealed to me a world of big stories.Got a tip for me? No story’s too small. I’m here to listen.Contact me via my website form: https://thejuliastory.journoportfolio.com/
