As an Instructional Designer and eLearning Developer, I thrive on building accessible, innovative, engaging courses that require both my analytic thinking and creativity to bring them to life. My recipe for creating great learning experiences is simple: • know the audience and put their needs at the center of the design; • use a cognitivist approach to present information in a way that is easy to digest;• find the story in the data or content to make the course relevant and interesting; and • add a dash of humour and fun during scenarios and other application-based activities.I apply the skills I gained through my Human Resources, Business Analysis, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificates to my work. HR gives me additional insight into the people needs of a company. The skills used in mediation are transferable to day-to-day interactions as they are based on good communication, active listening, and finding win-win solutions by addressing people’s interests. As a Business Analyst, I am a translator who facilitates communication between different stakeholders to gain consensus and understanding, while ensuring project requirements are elicited and represented in the learning solution.
