TRACE Project.The project’s objective is to create a legal technological solution to enable Law Enforcement agencies to detect and combat money-laundering and financing of organized crime and terrorism by increasing the efficiency of information sharing among them. I work as a legal researcher for Trace Project as part of the Nova School of Law team. I perform qualitative research on the European Union legal and jurisprudential landscape on Artificial Intelligence, cyber security, electronic evidence and EU regulatory compliance rules. I develop analysis and comparison of cross-border investigations and prosecutions involving illicit financial flows across Europe to identify gaps and good practices on AML/CFT, fraud and anti-bribery topics. Finally, I also prepare reports on the assessment of the scope and efficacy of European cyber forensics and recommendations to improve capacities and policies on detecting illicit money flows.

Volunteer work.I participated on the development and organization of the second and third editions of WICADE, the national moot court competition focused on competition law, in partnership with the Brazilian Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE). On the second edition, I drafted the fictitious case that was analyzed by the participants and structured the oral rounds of thecompetition.

Advisor at the presidency.I served as competition law specialist at the presidency of CADE. Advised CADE’s president on writing votes, decisions and official letters, and on judgement sessions regarding complex competition law and antitrust cases, including merger control, cartel investigations, and unilateral conduct cases. Participated in commissions and negotiation committees. Articulated between CADE and other regulatory agencies in Brazil. Technical skills encompassed: analysis and definition of the relevant market, level of concentration and company's market share, market power, competitive overlapping impacts in horizontal or vertical integration, possibility and probability of exercise of market power, analysis of rivalry, barriers to entry and efficiencies, among others.

Monitored the structuring of M&A operations and due diligence from a competition perspective. Represented companies before CADE in merger control and anticompetitive practices investigations, including drafting and filing defense documents and participating in procedural hearings. Prepared legal opinions on a wide range of competition law and antitrust issues, specifically on antitrust compliance implementation or maintenance programs. Helped clients with approval for mergers and avoiding anticompetitive practice investigations by developing innovative legal arguments. Moreover, I worked for more than two years at Figueiredo & Velloso as a Criminal Specialist Lawyer. In that role, I performed on many criminal investigation cases of money laundering, fraud, bribery and corruption, and other related crimes.
