In May 2022, Julia exited Admin Slayer as both a leader and an owner, leaving it in the excellent hands of her cofounders, Shannon and Tracey.

JYC Financial was an unbiased, fee-for-service financial planning firm. It merged with Spring Personal Finance in 2017 to become Spring Financial Planning.

The Gazette was an online and print magazine based in Vancouver, providing unique perspectives on arts, style, life and music both locally and internationally. Readers were young and entrepreneurial. Julia wrote a regular business column, feature interviews, and an annual Chinese New Year article.

As Co-Founder and Practice Leader, Julia built Facet Advisors Wealth Strategies as a premiere fee-for-service financial planning firm in partnership with Facet Advisors Chartered Accountants LLP.

Julia's brief stint at BMO Nesbitt Burns taught her some key elements of marketing within a large firm.

Julia coordinated the amalgamation of three credit union life insurance departments, created policy and procedure, supervised and trained staff members, coordinated services with other departments, oversaw agent submissions, and provided expertise to insurance agents.

Julia created marketing materials, presentations, structure, marketing strategy and more as one of three partners in the company that went on to become Frog Friendly Wild Coffee.

Julia took advantage of Investors Group’s renowned training program, which introduced her to financial planning.

Las Rebels Concert Promotion & Production assisted West Coast musicians in coordinating and marketing their record releases and concerts. Julia was one of six young women who founded and ran this exciting venture. It didn’t make money but it was a lot of fun.

Julia worked through the ranks at Goepel McDermid, which became Raymond James during her tenure there. Here she learned from expert financial advisors and traders in the White Rock office.
