Julie Bindon was the Founding Director, past CEO and Chairman of JBA Urban Planning Consultants Pty Ltd (JBA), established in 1992, and subsequently Director, Planning at Ethos Urban Pty Limited. Ethos Urban was formed with the merger of JBA, Planisphere and Buckley Vann in late 2016 to form a national company that integrates design, economics, engagement and planning. At July 2017 Ethos Urban had a total of over 120 staff over three offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. A graduate in Town Planning from the University of Auckland, with post graduate qualifications in Land Economy from Sydney University, Julie is a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA), a Certified Practicing Planner, an honorary Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Awards Julie has received include the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) (NSW) Leadership Award for Women in Development, the PIA (NSW) Excellence Award for services to the Institute and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Business Woman of the Year award. Whilst at JBA / Ethos Urban Julie held, amongst other roles, the positions of NSW President of the PIA, member of NSW Heritage Council, member of the University of NSW Built Environment Advisory Council (BEAC), Board member of the Western Sydney Parklands Trust, member of Landcom's Development Advisory Panel, member of UrbanGrowth's NSW’s Design Directorate expert panel, and senior judge on the UDIA’s Judging Panel for the Awards of Excellence.Working for over 35 years as a private consultant in New South Wales, Julie gained a considerable range and depth of experience in most urban planning matters, including as an expert witness in the NSW Land and Environment Court.
