DEI & Communications Specialist seeking an opportunity to build upon a comprehensive skill set and contribute to a dynamic organization dedicated to delivering DEI commitments and advancing equitable systems in the workplace.

I consulted for various UNICEF Country Offices [UNICEF HQ in New York, UNICEF ESARO (Angola, Ethiopia, Kenya) and LACRO (El Salvador)], and provide technical assistance to formulate communication, advocacy and resource mobilization strategies for key partners and donors in the private and public sectors for rights-based programming for women and children. This involves producing donor reports, social media content and human interest stories and researching, synthesizing information and analyzing cross-cutting social data and trends to convey the social impact of UNICEF programming and share best practices with key implementing partners, policy makers and donors.

I supported Angola's Polio Eradication Initiative through the development and implementation of innovative health communication strategies aimed at high risk populations to encourage positive and healthy behaviors for child survival. I also advocated for Angola’s Polio Eradication Initiative with senior Ministry of health officials, private sector companies and external government donors and worked closely with GPEI core partners to implement and secure funding for polio eradication activities.

I worked with UNICEF's Early Childhood Development Unit to develop advocacy and communication materials for global ECD initiatives; organized key messages around Early Childhood Development programming in emergencies tailored to donors, ECD practitioners and policymakers; edited and contributed to the final layout of an ECD publication which included eight country case studies and global human interest stories aimed at donors and wider ECD community; and contributed to major donor reports by compiling human interest stories about beneficiaries of UNICEF’s Early Childhood Development programs and gathering relevant data from country programs.I coordinated research findings from academic institutions and created knowledge management platform to provide evidence about the effectiveness of ECD programming, particularly among children in emergencies and vulnerable communities and created a KM platform to disseminate key findings to be used by policymakers and ECD practitioners. I co-authored and edited key ECD publications for internal staff and external stakeholders.

As part of the GPEI, I provided technical assistance to field offices in polio affected areas and developed communication strategies to strengthen social mobilization and advocacy activities. I also engaged key donors and core GPEI partners (Rotary Foundation, CDC, WHO, BGMF) through reporting, partner meetings and consistent communication about GPEI program outcomes and funding needs and developed strategies for media outreach and mobilization of local government and traditional leaders to increase awareness and motivation among caregivers to immunize their children.

I facilitated the relationship between Nokia and international partner NGOs for Make a Connection, a Nokia-funded youth development program that reached over 250,000 youth beneficiaries in twenty-one countries. I managed ten million dollar grant portfolio funded by Nokia to local NGOs in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Nigeria and the US, focused on youth life skills, technology for development, civic participation and volunteerism. I devised marketing and brand awareness strategies to strengthen Nokia’s CSR strategy and image as a socially conscious and inclusive company and developed adult learning curriculum for the Passport to Success program and conducted Trainer of Trainer sessions for adult practitioners working with at-risk youth. I vetted partner organizations and assisted them in developing grant proposals, communication strategies and monitoring and evaluation tools for Nokia-funded projects. I conducted quarterly field visits and organized annual regional planning conferences and learning workshops for Nokia and NGO managers. I led partner outreach and engagement and devised communication and public advocacy plans to strengthen Nokia’s CSR strategy and positioning as a socially conscious company. I trained partner NGOs to develop advocacy and communication strategies and integrate key elements of Nokia’s corporate social responsibility strategy into country programming and developed learning platforms that partners could use to share best practices.

I researched critical policy measures related to youth employment, health, education and violence prevention and designed a Policy Toolkit aimed at policymakers and practitioners to create and implement effective policies and interventions for at-risk youth. Additionally, I was responsible for drafting policy recommendations using proven and promising program models including Early Childhood Development programs, community mobilization and school and parental intervention.

After graduation from Johns Hopkins SAIS, i was selected for a competitive national merit-based USAID sponsored fellowship where I coordinated initiatives with the International Labor Organization for the Global Compact, to foster cooperation between UN agencies, NGOs, labor groups and civil society. I organized events for private sector companies, NGOs and government organizations to increase information exchange, strengthen public-private partnership and advocate for sustainable pro-poor labor policy and laws. I prepared monthly newsletter Executive Exchange for the local and international business community in Jakarta highlighting new business developments and information on labor laws. I worked directly with the American Chamber of Commerce to design a business plan which was used by Indonesia’s National Productivity Council to increase Indonesia’s regional and global competitiveness.

I achieved a subscriber base of hundreds of hospitality business owners and travelers on an interactive online platform designed to connect travelers and vendors in the hospitality industry. I managed field operations for Southern Spain and Portugal to market and promote internet travel planning for international travelers and hospitality vendors. I developed and executed innovative online communication and marketing strategies for over 300 hospitality establishments in Spain and Portugal. I advised small and medium-sized business owners on how to effectively advertise their services and increase target clientele. Set and achieved daily outreach targets to market the website to international travelers in six European countries
