About Julie King

Currently working in a beautiful school at the foot of the Galtees.Teaching is my passion. I've been so incredibly lucky to work in many schools under various leaders, who have shaped me into the teacher I am. I encourage innovative learning practices and try to incorporate as much active and critical thinking strategies into my lessons, supported by the use of technology. I believe in leading from behind and that one does not have to be in middle or senior management to be a good and effective leader. Good leadership is motivating your team and pushing your team forward in a positive way, building a strong community amongst colleagues and staff with shared values and goals. This is how positive and effective change happens.I strongly encourage the development of Youth Mentoring Programs in every post primary school which will encourage more students to value their education and stay in school. My hope is that one day the Department of Education will provide this in all schools and develop equal access to education for all.
