As an 8th grade pre-Algebra teacher, it is my responsibility to get my students ready to meet the challenges of high school Algebra but also meet the state's expectations for achievement in 8th grade math.

I came into the implementation of Calhoun Falls Charter as the only middle school math teacher. I implemented vertical alignment for the middle school math. I increased the state standardized test scores each year that I was there. I built a relationship with the student and parent to help the student gain in math confidence.

I entered Wright as an 8th grade math and the Algebra I teacher. My Algebra I students all performed in the 97% on the end of course exam. With all of my students I have always built relationships, which I think encourage the students to flourish. For my regular 8th grade students I always pushed them to be their best and my state test scores showed this improvement.
