I have been a Preventive Medicine Technician in the US Navy since 2007, working in various locations throughout the world. I worked to maintain community health through various medical readiness programs. I provided testing, counseling and expertise on sexual health, communicable diseases, travel medicine, disease surveillance and prevention. Conducted environmental health sanitation, habitability, water, wastewater and pest inspections at required intervals, making recommendations for compliance with Navy standards for public health. Partnered with Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Safety Departments to coordinate and conduct all physicals to comply with NAVOSH requirements. As a Hospital Corpsman prior to earning the Preventive Medicine Technician certification, I was responsible for checking in the patients for their appointments, taking vital signs, getting a medical history and performing or preparing for any testing or procedures prior to the patient seeing the provider. I processed labs and reported results to my providers. I scheduled follow up care of the patients locally if available, and coordinated any other appointments with civilian providers, flight itineraries and lodging for patients who had to leave remote overseas locations for specialty appointments in the United States.

Navy Medical Readiness Training Unit (Nmrtu) Sasebo, Japan

As a Team Manager and Senior Preventive Medicine Technician, I was the Leading Petty officer managing 5 junior technicians along with managing 15 Ancillary Services personnel.I represented the Naval Branch Health Clinic on the Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo Integrated Training Team.
