I am a co-founder and CEO at PremieHealth, where we want to make a difference to the lives of preterm babies to give them the best start in life. We are using our proprietary deep tech to create human-based products that promote development of preterm babies rather than growth, creating a paradigm shift in the way we think about caring for preterm babies.At PremieHealth we believe that doing good is contagious. And to us, preterm babies deserve love, compassion, care, and the best nutrition for a better future and a better planet. I have worked in, and led a variety of research groups, in both academic and industry arenas, affording me considerable experience in leadership roles. I have partnered with industry and developed my understanding of the complex relationship between industry, innovation and research. Areas of research include breast cancer and bone metastasis, mammary gland biology, lactation, bioactive discovery in milk, plasma treatment of milk, stem cell therapy, bioreactor development and immunotherapy, and the use of materials to protect and deliver these treatments. I have utilised numerous animal models including platypus, echidna, wallaby, fur seals, cows, mice and humans to study the comparative genomics of mammary gland function, milk production, antimicrobial proteins and other bioactives in milk. I have extensive experience in grant writing with successful funding from University of Melbourne/CSIRO Collaborative Research Program, Deakin University, Gates Foundation USA, Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) with funding from industry partners Dairy Australia, Cytomatirx, Nohla, and The Dairy CRC . Research platforms include molecular biology, cell biology, animal models, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, genomics, protein production, proteomics, metabolomics, plasma technology, evolutionary analysis, large scale transcriptomics (RNAseq) and bioinformatic techniques. I have expertise in research innovation and development.
