This part of my role focuses on the development and delivery of training programmes with practical strategies for parents and teachers. Supporting parents and teachers to meet the needs of their high potential learners in relation to their educational, social and emotional needs. This includes working with parents in more deprived areas to raise their confidence and skills and thereby help narrow the attainment gap in their children's educational outcomes. My national work covers both primary and secondary phases, state and independent schools; concentrating primarily on Identification, Practical Classroom Strategies for Challenge and Parental Engagement. Recent workshops were provided on Parental Engagement for the Optimus Conference in June 2015; and on Challenge in the Classroom for the Teach First Impact Conference in July 2015. My international work includes delivering presentations on parental engagement in the education of high potential learners at the 2009 and 2011 World Conferences for Gifted and Talented Children; the ECHA (European Council for High Ability) Conference in September 2012; and Global and Gifted at the University of Warwick in July 2013. International projects include PACT:GT (Parental Action for Gifted and Talented) with the Austrian Research and Support Centre for Gifted and Talented and the Ankara Bilsem Science and Arts Centre in Turkey. Most recently I launched our ASPIRE programme at the 2015 World Conference for Gifted and Talented in Denmark, where I outlined our approach to the development and delivery of teacher training.
