Coordinate the Dedman Distinguished Scholarship Program: a merit-based, full-ride scholarship for honors students at UT Austin in the Liberal Arts Honors Program and Plan II Honors Program. Mentor students in the program to support their academic achievement and prepare them for post-graduate success. --Design activities to support scholars to achieve at the highest levels at UT and identify their future career goals--Raise awareness of the scholarship program at UT and beyond--Coordinate all aspects of the selection process, from application reviews to campus visits and interviews (*I do not review applications or select recipients*)--Organize recruitment events with faculty, prospective students, current scholars, and alumni--Maintain connections with alumni and increase opportunities for their engagement in the program--Plan and lead weekly meetings, annual retreats, quarterly trips, and special events to build a sense of connection and community among scholars--Partner with other university offices to help scholars apply for other academic enrichment opportunities--Meet individually with scholars to discuss their challenges and achievements; share resources to support their intellectual and emotional growth--Track measures of program and student success; write annual grant report to the Dedman Foundation

Teach undergraduate honors seminars for the Liberal Arts Honors Program, featuring the "Reacting to the Past" curriculum, an interactive pedagogy that teaches public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive writing skills. --Teach 3 courses each academic year, 20-25 students in each section, both upper- and lower-division--Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate teaching assistants for each section --Attend annual Reacting to the Past Faculty Institute and connect with the national network of instructors; share teaching strategies--Present at teaching conferences and lead workshops to showcase and share teaching methods, such as at South by Southwest Education Conference and sessions at National Reacting to the Past Faculty Institute

While teaching part-time in the Liberal Arts Honors program, I also worked part-time with program staff to provide support for student initiatives and help organize the Dedman Distinguished Scholarship Program. --Designed and edited the Liberal Arts Honors program newsletter each semester for two years--Built an alumni network for the Dedman Distinguished Scholarship Program using social media and program databases--Created and maintained the first Dedman Distinguished Scholarship Program website --Worked closely with program admissions staff to organize campus visits and interviews for Dedman scholarship finalists--Assisted with the Envision Austin initiative, a competition for students to design their own non-profit service project; mentored students as they launched their projects at UT --Mentored students in the LAH program through individual meetings and maintained close connections with students through program-wide events

Guest columnist. Wrote articles featured regularly in the print edition of the newspaper and online, including essays the Life & Letters section and the Commentary/Op-Ed pages.

Tutored college students in writing skills through a national online writing lab to help them reach their highest academic potential and prepare them for their future careers.

Taught interdisciplinary courses and advised students in the First-Year Program• Explore Chicago (2 sections taught, 25 students per section), a writing-intensive, seminar course on Chicago’s history for first-year students. • Quantitative Reasoning (17 sections taught, 25 students per section), a computer-based, quantitative methods course for non-math majors on data analysis.• Students included residential undergraduates in afternoon classes on the Lincoln Park Campus and non-traditional adult learners in evening classes on the Loop campus downtown, all from diverse backgrounds

•Worked closely with the director of Academic Affairs and the faculty department chairs to organize the internal academic program review process during DePaul's official university accreditation process by NCA•Tracked and analyzed enrollment data to measure the university's student success initiatives•Organized monthly pedagogy workshops for faculty; facilitated reading groups.•Managed budgets for faculty development programs, including federal grant funding for higher-education initiatives.•Researched topics to inform university-wide strategic planning process in response to rapidly-increasing student enrollment; wrote reports and presented results to faculty and administrators•Facilitated faculty committees leading internal review projects.•Traveled to other universities to study and share best practices in assessment; created support network of colleagues across multiple universities nation-wide.

•Studied the local impact of a federally-funded school reform initiative (Title I grants for underserved schools) with site visits, participant interviews, and quantitative data analysis; wrote reports and presented results at local and national conferences. This was a joint project with Temple University in Philadelphia, so I travelled there frequently to conduct research.

•Organized professional development workshops for community organizers working to politically empower underserved communities in Texas through the Texas Industrial Areas Foundation.•Provided research assistance for community organizers; wrote speeches for the director. •Wrote multiple grant proposals/reports to foundations to secure program funding.

•Coordinated research project with the Texas Interfaith non-profit organization and the LBJ School of Public Affairs to study impact of legislation on a community's school improvement program -Tracked education legislation in the Texas Legislature (attended sessions). •Wrote status reports and summaries of education legislation to share with director and organizers of the Texas Interfaith organization.
