I was responsible for conducting specialist geochemical modelling utilising an in-house geochemical computer code called SULFIDOX, which models the oxidation of sulfidic material. Chemical equilibrium is incorporated into the code by the inclusion of a geochemical speciation code (PHREEQC) and enabled determination of pollutant loads and concentrations in acid mine drainage arising from waste rock piles as a function of time. The modelling was used to predict pollutant loads and concentrations of acid mine drainage for a number of mining clients across Australia. -
