My background is as an administrative PA with the majority of my career with BP in an Oil Refining environment. The role of PA, meant that I had to show initiative, pro-actively thinking ahead to ensure that the Managing Director’s objectives are met along with ensuring that BP’s reputation is represented positively on all occasions when liaising with external parties.This senior role extended my responsibility for planning and organising activities, determining priorities, maintaining confidentiality, developing professional presentation materials, increasing involvement in communication across all levels, plus taking on more autonomous and proactive roles, and developing decision making skills.A large part of this role was looking after the Managing Director on a day-to-day basis, organising and attending the weekly Senior Leadership Team Meeting, taking minutes and ensuring actions were minuted and actioned. Event organisation was a large part of this role, including our end of year function for 800-900 employees.
