Semester at Sea is a shipboard, globally comparative education abroad opportunity. Served as the primary liaison to the ship’s senior management team for day-to-day communications, logistics, program management and operations, and community engagement for more than 600 sailing passengers aboard the Fall 2023 Semester at Sea academic voyage. Partnered with the Executive Dean and Voyage Leadership Team, along with the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) leadership to provide program administration. Planned and executed 11 pre-port preparation meetings for passengers prior to arrival in each country; facilitated customs and immigration procedures and protocols. Oversaw a master on-call schedule rotation across 6 emergency response teams. Served in an on-call role while in-port.Provided leadership and supervision to Social Media Coordinator, Videographer, and Support Services Team members. Content editor for daily newsletter and passenger announcements. A typical workday in this unique environment often involved solving unusual problems by being resourceful and using good judgement while maintaining a high level of communication, diplomacy and confidentiality.

Served as program leader to support, guide, and implement employee resource groups (ERGs)—Communities of Belonging (CoBs)—across vibrant global Tech company. Led communications to increase CoB visibility, awareness, and engagement. Managed program development and delivery in partnership with Council and Executive Sponsors. Collaborated across People Ops team–including HRBPs, Employee Experience, Communications, Brand and Creative–to ensure inclusivity of global perspectives, deepening connections and community aimed at creating an enterprise wide culture of belonging. Implemented protocols, developed playbook, facilitated meetings and listening sessions.

Led comprehensive center-wide initiative to connect SU students and faculty to the community through academic and co-curricular community engaged learning activities and reciprocal partnerships. Hired, onboarded, supervised and provided development plan for team of 5. Partnered in creation of strategic directions and represented center on campus-wide committees that support student engagement, DEI, and belonging. Led end to end DEI training strategy to prepare employees and volunteers to engage in community. Successfully assessed, identified and managed consultant relationships; collaborated on identifying annual learning outcomes as well as funding. Managed successful transition from in-person to live, virtual workshop delivery. Played lead role in fund development work in support of campus engagement. Wrote and managed grant proposals for the maintenance and expansion of engagement work. Stewarded and managed funder partnerships. Developed grant funded fellowship position resulting in annual awarding with a 60% increase in amount over the past 3 years.

Collaborated on strategy to transform in-person graduate level course on Best Practices in Higher Education to online learning platform (Canvas), increased accessibility and omitted lab fees for all enrolled. Updated curriculum to be in alignment with current context of DEI, community engagement, and outreach in higher education. Provided ongoing feedback, instruction, support, assessment and evaluation for 20 graduate students.

Delivered informational workshops and advised international students on a variety of topics related to the benefits of their F-1 visa status; maintained updated workshop materials for office. Assisted with preparing annual data reports as needed, including IIE Open Doors; designed annual survey to assess the experience for over 250 J-1 visa status international students with a 40% feedback return rate.

Third-party provider of immersive education abroad programs. Responsible for relationship cultivation and management across the US. Successfully met the goal of increased enrollment by 10% in organization’s global education programs located in China and India. Represented Alliance Global Education programs and services to students, faculty and education abroad offices at more than 30 campus fairs, conferences and community events; demonstrated program value with the goal of enrollment and partnership confirmation; adapted communication strategy to audience.

Third-party provider of global comparative education abroad program. Developed regional outreach and recruitment strategy for US education abroad offices, including organization’s first initiative for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), resulting in significant partnership with the Tom Joyner Foundation for 3 full-ride scholarships, and representation from a total of 5 HBCUs during inaugural semester. Provided direction for enrollment and alumni engagement strategy through the development of Global Ambassadors volunteer program, including recruitment, online training, and on-going advising, learning and development for 200 Semester at Sea student alumni. Responsible for daily database management; provided accurate program messaging to student applicants, their families, and education abroad offices at external partner campuses, with the goal of converting to enrollment. As part of larger enrollment strategy, coordinated open house and site visit events held aboard the MV Explorer ship—at national and international ports—for prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni and key stakeholders; enforced security guidelines and port policies for groups sized 10-300.
