I am a committed advocate of independent education. My experiences over the past 16 years have been as a Governor for two independent schools and a champion of the sector as a Board Member of AGBIS. As a grateful beneficiary of philanthropy that supported my own education, I focus on effective governance, strategic planning and fundraising for independent schools in the UK.I have supported my Chairs and Heads in the process of ISI inspections, and the various iterations these have required, as well as successfully assisting in the appointment of new Heads at both schools. I have decades of experience of alumni relations, development, fundraising and communications in the education sector both in the UK and US. As a dual citizen, I am able to bridge the ‘cultural’ gap between the two in these areas.My focus is on trends in girls’ education in the UK, and I am particularly curious about gender differences in philanthropy. I have mentored students at secondary school, university and post-university levels in basic networking skills, CV writing, and career planning. I am interested in helping schools develop their governance, strategic planning or fundraising / development programmes, particularly those focussed on young women.
