Attorney for HOAs and Condominium AssociationsJulie Howard has had the pleasure of representing condominium and homeowner associations for most of her legal career. Julie was a shareholder and managing partner of the Community Association Practice at Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco, PC, where she practiced for 20 years. On October 1, 2016, Julie and her partner George Nowack founded NowackHoward, LLC, absorbing the entire WNCW Community Association Practice.Julie has extensive experience advising community associations through every-day issues, document amendments, contract review and negotiation, covenant enforcement, Fair Housing Act claims, insurance defense and collections. Since 1998, Julie also has been a licensed instructor for the Georgia Real Estate Commission, teaching the Community Association Managers’ Pre-License Course and continuing education courses to Georgia’s community association managers.An active member of the Community Associations Institute since 1997, Julie has served CAI at every level. Julie is a past president, treasurer and secretary of the Georgia Chapter of CAI and served on the Chapter’s Board of Directors for six years from 2002-2007. Julie has been an active member of CAI-Georgia’s Legislative Action Committee since 2007 and served as LAC Chair from 2011-2013. Julie was elected to CAI's National Board of Trustees in 2009 and served as a National Trustee through 2015. Julie was honored to serve as CAI National President in 2014. In May 2016, Julie received CAI National’s Outstanding Volunteer Service Award and received the 2017 Educator of the Year Award for the Georgia Chapter of CAI. In 2008, Julie was elected to membership in the College of Community Association Lawyers. Julie has served on both the College's Membership Committee and Law Seminar Planning Committee, which she co-chaired from 2015-2017. In 2016, Julie's CCAL colleagues elected her to the CCAL Board of Governors. She served as 2018 CCAL President.
