About Julien Courson
In 2006, and after having spent three successful years in the insurance and retail banking sectors, I decided to shift my career into the not for profit sector.I joined the executive team of ALEF (www.alefliban.org) as an executive director till December 30th, 2009. My role focused on building the institutional and organizational structure, fundraising, the programmatic development and advocacy outreach at national and international levels. In 2010, I was selected by the European Union delegation in Beirut to participate to the European Union Visiting Program in Bruxelles. I started teaching at the Faculty of Economics at Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut in 2005 (till 2015) where I introduced the course of “Introduction to Human Rights” and “Actualités Ėconomiques”. I also worked as a research assistant at the faculty affiliated research center.From 2010 till date, I consulted to the UNDP, the Center for professional Mediation, NRGI, Christian Aid, New Tactics in Human Rights, Oxfam GB, Democracy Reporting International, the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies, the Lebanese Oil and Gas Initiative, Lebanese Transparency Association, and others on programs related to good governance in the Oil and Gas sector, transparency, mediation, lobbying and advocacy. I had the opportunity to also lead the strategic development and execution of numerous capacity development processes, ranging from design, to organization and building local partnerships, delivery and training of trainers, and evaluation in several countries in the MENA region namely Jordan, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon.Additionally, I produced research papers on good governance in the petroleum sector in Lebanon.In 2017, I joined the “Effective Personal Leadership” (EPL) program developed by Leadership Management International (LMI), and co-founded the Lebanese Kubernao Center to promote good governance and personal leadership.
