Responsible for starting-up the Canadian presence of Building Research Establishment (BRE) including overseeing Canadian specific Operational/HR activities, strategic planning, awareness marketing/communications, business development and sales. Provided strategic direction for the BRE development and pilot of the EcoSpex™ and complementary BRE and partner services. Established awareness and the strategic groundwork for a BRE Canada Innovation Park.• Developed and implemented an Operational Strategy to provide the structure to deal with operational complexities of starting up a Canadian presence of an international company. Lessons learned will shape the rollout of BRE in other countries.• On-boarded a strong, dedicated Canadian team with locally developed performance support material. Development process leveraged subject matter experts and shaped some UK business development. Staff enablement material will be used globally. • Established a presence of BRE Canada through marketing efforts. Green Build reception was so positive that processes were developed to handle the volume of interest. • Developed a strategic business development process to select and rationalize BRE products to introduce to Canada. This streamlined efforts and determined necessary local customization. • Accelerated BRE's introduction into Canada by leveraging existing and developing new relationships with key public and private organizations. • Provided strategic direction for the BRE development and marketing of EcoSpex™. Launched the pilot (Spring of 2012). Established sales and complementary product delivery partners across Canada. • Shaped a consultancy product that is in an early stage of development. Provided extensive input to the development plans. Laid the groundwork for Canadian pilots. • Introduced the Innovation Park concept (through marketing and business development). Julie envisioned and founded The Ontario Sustainable Construction & Resource Centre (OSCAR), a not-for profit organization with the mandate to advance economic prosperity in Ontario by driving market demand for green building products across every aspect of the built environment. OSCAR will be a meeting ground where anyone and everyone – industry, consumers, academia and government – can learn about sustainable building and access a wide variety of tools, training, demonstrations and information resources.• Developed the not-for-profit Corporation and bylaws.• Selected and appointed a board of 4 seasoned professionals and appointed a select group of 7 volunteers.• Developed the strategic plan and drafted the business plan. • Secured partners from academia, government and industry including the City of Vaughan who agreed to provide five acres of land (per a MOU) • Raised $200,000 from partners to help support operations.

Founded Blue Wilderness Management Group Inc. (Blue Wilderness) at a time when sustainability had not yet penetrated into mainstream consciousness. This unique boutique sustainability consulting firm's mandate was to provide tools and services in the green building industry enabling public and private sector clients to achieve a competitive advantage. In 2006, BW identified a new business opportunity in the green building material sector with intensive research and business development. BW and BRE UK co-founded EcoSpex™. Blue Wilderness consulting opportunities delivered the following: • Developed a report for National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program – Construction Sector Team – An Overview of Green Building and Green Products in the Canadian Marketplace. • Henvey Inlet First Nations a business plan for the development of an Ecolodge. Worked with the first nation’s community to develop funding from FEDNOR. Successful at getting funding. • Retained by the Toronto Construction Association to implement a Green Roof at their current head office in Richard Hill. • Facilitated workshops and conducted research in order to author the Green Building Manufacturing Centre Report which outlines the needs, issues, market assessment and next steps in developing a Green Building Manufacturing strategy plan for Ontario. • Developed and delivered a FCM grant on behalf of City of Kawartha Lakes. Successfully applied for supporting federal grants. • Collaborated on several design teams to deliver LEED projects from 1999-2009. • Retained to deliver to Public Works Government Services Canada sustainability construction research for building products, best practices approach.

JS Environmental Services provided project management services to Ontario Parks (Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources) located within Bruce and Grey County. Services included site planning, policy, partnership and execution of a long term strategy plan for senior management. • Reported to the senior management in Peterborough - Ministry of Natural Resources to obtain permission for private development in a Provincial Park. That agreement was the first of its kind in Ontario. • Developed terms of references for a MOUT for 106 acres of land.• Cultivated a best practices document to guide the Ministry staff based upon a SWOT of several case studies (Kananaskis Parks Management Plan in Alberta). • Drafted business plan and vision statement. • Managed a team of consultants over a 5 five year span for the delivery of an Ecolodge. Strategy Plan and Master plan Craighleith Provincial Park/ Developed Request for Proposals for site consulting process.• Worked with local Members of Parliament .• Engaged in policy development - Niagara Escarpment Five Year Plan, report and presentation to Hearing Officers for the parkland and approvals for building.• Generated funding from National Research Council of Canada. • Developed corporate campaign to raise funds. • Positioned the Southern First Nations Secretariat as the lead investor to support the project.
