In 2018, SM formed an Advanced Analytics and Emerging Technology (AAET) team to advance analytics and data science within the company. I came back to SM to be part of this team. We use sprint methods to deploy enterprise solutions with Spotfire, Alteryx and PowerBI one functional group at a time. 1. Build Alteryx workflows to deliver better data to users faster than ever. 2. Focus on data quality projects to improve the accuracy of key metrics. 3. Improve Spotfire projects as data architecture changes, as well as broadening the use of TERR, IronPython, HTML and CSS. 4. Guide the evolution of self-service BI within the company and work to build a collaborative analytics culture that includes a company-wide standard for analytics certifications. HIGHLIGHTS -- Proud of building some of the largest and most complex projects in the company. Enthusiastic about being able to influence the direction of analytics. Ended work on the Ruths.ai Data Shop Talk blog. Develop a Spotfire based analytics program for engineers, techs, analysts, and scientists using a 5 pronged approach. 1. Bring together disparate sources of data to create a strong infrastructure and architecture. 2. Create and deliver high-quality training courses for Spotfire including Essentials I, Essentials II, Advanced Configurations, and Advanced Calculations. Trained over 200 people in 2 years.3. Unconventionals Dashboard - Gathered and documented requirements, tested and deployed dashboard for production, deferment and cost data on time and budget (approx 500k). - Dashboard incorporated data from 5 sources, processing millions of records daily with varying degrees of automation and accuracy without a data warehouse layer. - Developed and delivered training for 500 users in 12 oil/gas fields in the US and Canada. - Took ownership after deployment and managed team of 9 people tasked with improving data quality and process execution. - Designed a data quality management system with Information Quality Metrics.Energy Components (EC) - Gathered and documented requirements, tested and deployed deferment module of EC, a hydrocarbon allocation software. - Gathered and documented requirements for production, deferment and master data reporting in Business Objects. - Managed a 10 person testing team for Business Objects reports in 2 US locations, as well as an ETL vendor in Malaysia.Global Production Dashboard - Coordinated efforts between multiple teams across US and Europe to integrate requirements for regional and global production and deferment data warehouse and Spotfire dashboard. Management of Deferment Information - Facilitated development of regional deferment standards balancing drive for global standardization with regional needs and the limits of existing systems. - Develop deferment tool kit and provided training to approx 120 field operators, supervisors and managers in 12 field locations. - Utilized Lean methodology in deferment process improvement projects. - Acted as regional SME providing input to global deferment standards re-write.
