Colleagues describe her as "So most of us think that a cookie, is a cookie, is a cookie... At least, that is what I thought until I sampled a variety of Julie's cookies from Noshy. No joke, memorably scrumptious is right! If you think that all cookies are more-or-less created equal, you gotta try some of these bad boys!" and "Having class with a first-time professor is always a risk, but it was one I was more than glad to take for Julie Strange. Teaching what is basically an introduction to reference services for librarians, Julie was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the topic, she went beyond just teaching from the text, telling us about her experiences in the field. Throughout the semester, Julie brought in several colleagues to broaden our conceptions of the library profession. She also enriched class discussions by getting us to think about the theoretical aspects of library service as well as pushing us to envision what service can be like if we go with changing technological trends, rather than fighting them. Julie is committed to an optimistic outlook on our profession- an attitude that’s infectious and encouraging. Outside of the classroom, Julie is the most accessible professor I’ve ever had. She’s always available to discuss anything, and even gave us the option of Skype conferencing just to ensure we could contact her. She even text-conferenced me through writing a cover letter for a job. She always has thoughtful feedback to our work and insightful responses to questions. Julie’s class was honestly the best and most welcoming introduction to library school I could have imagined. I only wish she could teach more classes!"
