Dr Juliet Bedford is the Founder and Director of Anthrologica, a leading research-based organisation specialising in applied anthropology in global health (www.anthrologica.com). Anthrologica conducts formative and operational research across health sectors, focusing on the interface between the provision and uptake of health and related services, particularly in resource-scarce settings and emergencies. Juliet has over 20 years technical experience in developing contexts, fragile states and emergency settings and has worked across Africa, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, designing and leading complex qualitative and mixed-methods research. As Director of Anthrologica, she manages a core team of anthropologists, social scientists and regional specialists, providing strategic direction and quality assurance across the company's portfolio.Juliet holds a DPhil in Anthropology for the University of Oxford. She is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Global Public Health at New York University and is a Visiting Fellow at the Firoz Lalji Centre for Africa at the London School of Economics. From 2018 to 2022, Juliet served on the Strategic Technical Advisory Board for Infectious Hazards, providing independent advice to the Health Emergencies Programme at the WHO, and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Centre of International Health Protection at the Robert Koch Institute. In 2022, Juliet was presented with the Marsh Prize for Anthropology in The World by the Royal Anthropological Institute.
