(1) If you invite me to connect, please include a note of how we met and/or why you want to connect with me. Thanks.(2) If you are looking at my profile to offer me a job, please note that I am not available to fill minority quotas and that must be spelled out in my contract. See attached genetic data. Finally...(3) My focus on how humans relate to the space that surrounds them, was sparked within my larger interest in the arts. In high school I started a team dedicated to creating stage design for events which had kinetic components. The school where I studied graphic design as an undergraduate, handled projects as collaborative endeavors between architects, and industrial and graphic designers, looking at mathematics as the language to do so, enacted by poetry. Naturally, when I reached graduate school I had this idea where I wanted to create impossible holographic spaces. Thus, I spent my first MFA in graphic design researching everything I could about Virtual Reality and presenting at international conferences. Teaching inspired me to think of future venues for art in collaboration with other disciplines. Completing a second MFA, this time in electronic visualization, I was able to create the experience of a tesseract grid in the CAVE virtual reality environment. For the following eight years, working at the Adler Planetarium alongside scientists, historians and educators allowed me to understand collaboration in new lights, and further enabled me to articulate what it is to exchange knowledge among disciplines towards a common endeavor, in this case, visualizing space beyond human perception within shows and exhibitions. I also completed my Ph.D. in interactive arts. My ongoing goal is to share these experiences and expertise, and the overall vision of research artists embedded in creative projects that advance human knowledge in institutions that work for the public good.

Guest Lecturer, Immersive EnvironmentsSchool Of The Art Institute Of Chicago: Saic Sep 2011 - Dec 2011Chicago, IlI was invited to teach the Immersive Environments class for the fall of 2011at the Art and Science Department (I continued working at the Planetarium through this period). I created a syllabus covering the basics of computer graphics, from 3D modeling, to performance, animation through bones, scripting interaction such as triggers and collision detection as well as navigation with sensors. I also trained a student assistant who had no previous experience with real time computer graphics. Since the stereo facility had not been used for a few months because nobody knew how to, I created a stereo rig to run Unity3D and taught how to work with it to both students and staff who would continue teaching the class. A report on this class can be found in my paper "Learning immersion without getting wet", downloadable from https://planetary-collegium.academia.edu/JulietaAguilera

Research AssistantElectronic Visualization Laboratory 2001 - 2006Started as an RA working with the CAVE, showing demos to VIPs and also worked with the webgroup, designing the main page based on the rest of the site that had already been designed. Modeled a few avatars, websites, posters and logos, including the visual identity and all its printed byproducts for iGrid2005. Worked for cavern group and designed the logo and dentity for SAGE and part of its interface. The logo depicts the silhouettes of two people (Laura and Arun, that I photographed) standing in front of outlined letters with white glow against dark green background. I arranged upper and lower case of a font as to resemble a tiled display.
