Special assignment to support the National Laboratory Directors' Council (NLDC) whose purpose is to advance the effectiveness of the Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratory complex in meeting the collective national missions and provide an interface to DOE organizations on issues and concerns of common interest, both strategic and operational. The NLDC is comprised of Directors from all 17 US DOE National Laboratories. Selected activities in this role have included:• Facilitating interactions between the NLDC and individuals from all levels of government• Providing executive-level support to ensure coverage of key objectives and messages in various forums • Collaborating with leaders across the lab complex and DOE to organize workshops and think pieces on critical topics such as place-based innovation and workforce development• Ensuring effective communications between and among the lab directors and NLDC working groups.

Plan and implement a variety of new projects and processes as well as support substantial tasks essential to the operations of the Laboratory Director's office. Selected accomplishments in this role include:• Facilitated forums and activities aimed at defining and articulating the laboratory's core values• Provided executive-level support for laboratory senior leadership meetings, retreats, special events, etc.• Coordinated Argonne and complex-wide events and initiatives aimed at promoting a culture that prevents sexual and gender harassment and increases opportunities for marginalized communities at the national labs• Received 'Impact Argonne Awards' for Exceptional Effort, Enhancement of Argonne's Reputation, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion ResultsCurrently (FY23) on assignment to provide senior operational support to the Argonne Collaborative Center for Energy Storage Science (ACCESS).

• Management support of workflow within the Office of Strategy Performance and Risk (SPR) and between SPR and key Laboratory operations and programmatic offices, including: - Coordination and agenda development for activities aimed at keeping staff aware of relevant activities and initiatives as well as fostering dialogue and collaboration among team members. - Development and ongoing maintenance of upcoming action list used to communicate and organize high level deadlines and milestones.• Support high-profile events both independently and in coordination with staff at varying levels of the Laboratory. Activities include agenda development, identifying and securing Argonne attendees/speakers, on- and off-site logistics, escorting visitors, etc. External attendees and participants have included members of the Argonne Board of Governors, corporate executives and University professors interested in Laboratory projects.• Provide support for Laboratory Senior Management Strategic Investment Planning series including scheduling, logistics and secure archiving of meeting materials.• Responsible for tactical management of Argonne internal activities associated with preparation and successful execution of Argonne Board of Governors meetings including development, coordination and communication of internal task lists and schedules and management and organization of file repositories for Argonne Board Committee liaisons.

• Responsible for the central coordination of operations and planning activities for a joint research institute between the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory.• Maintain a “finger on the pulse” of the Institute, providing input as well as strategic and tactical advice to the Director on various issues of importance to the Institute such as policy recommendations, key topics to include in reviews and reports, staffing, etc.• Collaborate with Argonne and University leadership, PIs and staff to drive special projects forward including development and execution of MOUs, annual reporting, speaker series, etc.• Facilitate activities associated with the CI Appointments Committee and appointment of Fellows/Senior Fellows (including orienting new and prospective Fellows, overseeing the vetting process, and ensuring completion of administrative requirements).• Manage institute administrative staff for operations and Human Resources functions, including hiring, training, development and retention of effective staff.• Maintain awareness of project and research needs and objectives in order to collaborate and negotiate with diverse constituents at multiple locations (on and off-campus) to ensure needs of key Institute members are met.• Manage pre-award staff responsible for submission, tracking and reporting of federal and non-federal grant proposals (60-70 submissions totaling ~$60M per year).• Responsible for financial and administrative oversight of key $20M Institute cost-reimbursement contract from the NIH.

• Responsible for the development, coordination and logistics of large to mid-sized customer events, user conferences and regional activities, ensuring that programs align with company objectives.• Recommend general event strategies, timelines, and schedules to company departments to ensure appropriate topic or product coverage.• Manage activities associated with the Customer Advisory Board (comprised of executives from insurance, financial services and healthcare industry) to identify, address and articulate customer trends on a consistent basis.

• Oversee the financial, legal and human resource areas of the not-for-profit organization whose mission is the development of community-based IT standards. • Participate in and facilitate Board activities (compose and distribute agendas and minutes, track actions and prep President and Executive Director on key Board activities).• Identify strategic organizational needs and work within a virtual environment to create process through an integrated, team-oriented approach to improve operational efficiency. • Work across OGF functional boundaries to establish productive teams of volunteers (student scholars, Board of Directors, Advisory Board) as well as paid staff to coordinate overall efforts in accordance with organizational roles.

• Planned and managed Univa’s marketing activities including public relations, speaking engagements and other lead-generating events. • Developed a wide range of marketing and communications tools including product data sheets, white papers and website content.

• Responsible for the management and promotion of domestic and international IT events (conferences, retreats, meetings, social events and technical demonstrations with 10-1000 participants). • Execute comprehensive event components and communicate with all levels of management; committees, participants, internal departments, and vendors to coordinate overall conference efforts in accordance with organizational goals. • Prepare and manage event budgets including vendor negotiations resulting in financial stability.• Played integral role in the transition of GGF from a volunteer organization to solid-state operations.• Professionally represent project, division and Laboratory interests via participation on non-ANL sponsored conference committees (IEEE HPDC Conference, SC Conference Series, GGF standards development organization).
