As a contractor to AFL Global Telecoms, I design OSP Fiber Network Feed for AT&T Business Clients in North California Bay Area Wire Centers and reference designs through proprietary records system such as MIC, CFAS and CEPT. I generate design workprints through ARAMIS with Construction Codes (FTI) and Loop Make-Up validations as well as project costs through integrated Job Administration and Management (JAM).

The project our team engaged in involved face recognition and application behavior tracking. This project aimed at studying how a face recognition software can be used to track the evaluation of pictures in the dating app from Tinder. On the one hand, this task required evaluation of existing and readily available face/body recognition software (from GitHub or else, such as www.faceplusplus.com ) to classify pictures of people in different categories. The goal was to research what kind of variables are produced by different face and body recognition programs and to test them. On the other hand, this task required us to design a solution that would allow social science researchers to track the behavior of Tinder users. I was able to gain experience in applying theoretical concepts and tools that I have learned during my major to practical research questions. I obtained insight into questions that use computational methods applied to a pressing real world problem that is of interest to companies and governments. I also gained experience in collaborative research with professionals from the social sciences. I reached the overarching goal of being able to see how software engineering is being adapted to help us better understand the interplay between people and technology.- Helped create a screenshot-keylogger in C++ using windows.h and gdiplus.h which allowed us to efficiently collect data (Github upon request).- Introduced the basic skeleton code in Python for the functionality of the Face++ API, which gave us a number of variables from facial recognition (e.g. emotion, beauty, ethnicity, etc.) (Github upon request).

Quantifying the digital economy of Latin America with the digital footprint:I was a part of a United Nations commissioned research project to determine the technological development index of Latin American Countries. Specifically, I was involved in scraping lots of data that will give us a better idea about the digital economy of these countries. This involves especially products and skills that are crucial for the digital economy. We gathered evidence about products, the availability and comparative cost of products like computers, mobile phones, WiFi routers, video game consoles, etc. Our research will be presented as part of a high-level conference in April 2018: https://conferenciaelac.cepal.org/6/en.
