At the early age of 12, Julius was hit with the musical bug. As a child, he would sit in rehearsals for hours at a time listening to his mother harmonize with her music group the “Prodigals”, a popular local gospel quartet that toured with the Winans in the 80’s. He started writing and singing in elementary and formed a local singing group that consisted of himself and two other cousins. He became intrigued with business after successfully orchestrating his own personal music project in 2006. After making his round as an artist, known then as J. Rashad, his first project found success on UK's Breaking Artist Charts, topping at number 5. This drew the attention of major record labels and after two years of failed negotiations, Julius became heavily intrigued with the business side of music. Julius decided to sign himself as an artist. He and a friend launched a local record label called Madness Entertainment that he later renamed AudioDream Records in 2008. After renaming the record label, he began discovering and developing local talent by putting a team together that helped with production, development and label services. He found three local talents that did not have professional guidance and orchestrated their first musical experience on a professional level. He then started The Darrington Group. The company specializes in consulting, full service management, A&R consulting & artist development. After starting The Darrington Group he then decided to take his talents to Los Angeles and take advantage of new opportunities. During his exploration of LA, he began to study under a PR firm that sparked his interest in public relations. He caught the eye of multiple clients with the desire to take all that he had learned back to the music. While networking he met the then Senior Vice President/A&R of RCA Records, Wayne Williams, where he studied under him as a personal A&R assistant which positioned him with first major assignment working with the legendary R. Kelly.He continues to fulfill a void for artists in need of professional guidance, consultation, management, public relations and A&R servicing with the help of his team and staff of talented professionals.
