• Led a product development project (a top ten project in technology) with a cross-functional team of ten team members with over one million budgets to develop a multi-functional additive product for heavy-duty diesel application.• Collaborated with marketing across different regions to develop extended value propositions of a novel viscosity modifier. The extended values discovered made the product the “blockbuster” for the year. • Developed correlation between bench tests and field trial to address the industry issues on shear stability of engine oils in heavy-duty applications, which not only led to the limit setting of the new heavy-duty specification, but also saved the industry millions of dollars on engine testing.

• Designed and synthesized well-defined networks with a variety of chemistry platforms, characterized the physical and mechanical properties, and analyze the structure-property relationship to achieve the best performance.• Improved the mechanical performance of the swollen PEG/PDMS networks: the fracture toughness is ten times greater than that of typical swollen networks and the resilience, or the ability to reversibly deform without energy loss, is close to 100% even at high strain, which has not been demonstrated in any other synthetic material.• Improved the custom-built cavitation rheology instrument and technique to allow for precise modulus measurements on microscopic length scales.• For the first time, determined the mechanical properties of the eye lens in vivo over a range of length scales using the cavitation rheology technique, with minimal damage to the lens.• Mentored and supervised two undergraduate students on independent research projects.
