Jun-ichi OKAMURA is a seasoned entrepreneur in the semiconductor sector, having served as the Chairman and Founder of Trigence Semiconductor in Japan. With over 35 years of IC design experience, Jun is both an inventor and co-inventor, holding more than 30 US patents.In 1986, Jun began his career as a leading DRAM memory designer for Toshiba, later contributing his expertise to IBM in Burlington, VT. In 1999, he joined THine Electronics, a Japanese semiconductor startup specializing in high-speed graphic I/F devices. As one of the key business executives, Jun played a pivotal role in steering THine to significant success, culminating in its IPO in 2001.In 2006, Jun, along with two ex-Toshiba colleagues, founded Trigence Semiconductor. Trigence garnered attention, receiving its first investment in 2012 from Intel Capital due to the potential of its unique Dnote® audio technology to revolutionize the PC audio market. Despite accumulating a total of 22M USD, Trigence faced challenges during a Series-D funding round amid the China-USA trade war and was regally liquidated in March 2022.In 2023, Jun joined AIST Solutions, contributing his wealth of experience to semiconductor platform development. He is actively involved in the Open-Source Silicon for Japan initiative.
