I'm a former chemical engineer turned deep tech investor who is most passionate about science, operations and people. My goal is to help Australian scientists and entrepreneurs create, build and scale the next generation of deep-tech companies that will change the world. I am grateful to be part of the extraordinary team at Main Sequence, a deep tech venture capital firm with ~A$1b AUM. We are focused on early stage investments across food & ag-tech, healthcare, industrial productivity, AI/ML, space tech and decarbonization. Prior to joining Main Sequence, I spent five years as an engineer at the Altona Refinery in Melbourne, before to moving to the US to complete my MBA at Stanford. I then joined McKinsey in San Francisco where I primarily served energy and manufacturing clients on strategy, operations and digital transformation engagements. In early 2021, I was selected to join McKinsey’s internal tech incubator and investment group (McKinsey Launch) as a Portfolio Manager, where I led investment and product development efforts for client-facing tech solutions across GEM (Global energy and materials), operations and sustainability. In my spare time I struggle to balance my passions for golf and bouldering, and have a particular interest in singing and performing in musical theatre, much to my wife Sue Yean's dismay.
