Mechanical Design Engineer
Suspension Engineer
-Designed the upper control arm using Creo CAD software for REDD-Created the drawing to newly implemented front suspension (datum points) -Used previous years' data to improve the control arm design mainly through weight minimization-Ran a finite element analysis (FEA) in Fusion for the completed control arm-Constructed a new Jig for the gearbox (Creo CAD) by making a fake gearbox outline to measure out the Jig for Margaret-The new Jig efficiently held components in place using less material and provided more flexibility-Made.dxf files for certain parts (mainly tabs) to be 3D printed by the waterjet
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Hanwha Global Engineering Internship working at PSM manufacturing engineering airfoils and stationary team. I led the row 1 vane/nozzle investigation working with upper management, performance and manufacturing team for the 7FA engine for Xcel Energy gas turbine units as they noticed power loss on their units. Collected data to form trends and provide meaningful analysis to prove validity for the reconditioning process. Then, I presented my findings and analysis to Xcel Energy representatives and performance engineers. Finally, had internal discussions and gave input on other future threads. I also fixed persisting leakage issues on flowbench for blade fixtures. I cut leakage by 50 percent (to be well within the allowable leakage limit) to help drive the validation process and created a universal solution that can be applied to other blade fixtures. This helped to improve manufacturing efficiency and validity to kickstart gage R&R process.
Mechse Research Assistant
Collaborative research with Sandia National Laboratory to study, test, and analyze fireballs and measure their solid carbon ablation rates at high temperatures.I worked as a full-time undergraduate research assistant in the summer and part-time during the school year. Responsibilies include operating the shock tube with our research group to obtain pressure, emission, photo, temperature, etc data from a specific shot condition that we would set up. Other projects/skills include: rewiring all subsystems onto a central control board, adding another vacuuming system, machining, CAD and 3D printing, Microscopy (Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope, Nanosight), python, and Matlab.
Intern
Applied my coding skills, hardware/circuitry knowledge, and hardware parts to create a smart fan that would adjust the temperature based on multiple sensor inputs. Also helped develop an app that could be used to override the sensor and manually change the fan speed. Overall, I learned a lot more about circuits and microprocessors and how I could use my coding skillset and apply them to an appliance.
