About Jun Zhou

I am a Professor and the Deputy Head of School (Research) in the School of Information and Communication Technology at Griffith University. Before that, I held several research positions at the Australian National University, NICTA, CSIRO, and the University of New South Wales.I am a Deputy Director of the ARC Research Hub for Driving Farming Productivity and Disease Prevention. This Hub aims to significantly increase farm production and disease prevention ability by advancing and transferring new artificial intelligence technologies into industrial deployment. It is jointly funded by the Australian Research Council, five companies in the agriculture and AI sector, and Griffith University for more than 10 million dollars from 2018 to 2023. Key research members of the Hub come from five Australian universities, CSIRO, and industrial partners.I received the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) from the Australian Research Council in 2011. This award supports a project titled "Interactive computer vision for image annotation", with $375,000 for three years from 2012 to 2015. My research interests are in the general area of computer vision, pattern recognition, and image processing, in particular, hyperspectral imaging for computer vision and remote sensing with applications to environmental informatics, agriculture, and medical imaging. My current research topics include:1) Multi-modal image registration2) Spectral-spatial feature extraction3) 3D modeling from hyperspectral images4) Hyperspectral unmixing5) Hyperspectral object detection and classification6) Object detection and tracking in hyperspectral videos7) Deep learning approaches for hyperspectral and color image classificationI am a Section Editor of SN Computer Science, and an Associate Editor for Pattern Recognition, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IET Computer Vision, and the Journal of Soils and Sediments.
