My life has been turned upside down drastically since my 16th birthday, when I received a positive result for being pregnant.Gone were my dreams of becoming a pilot or a vet. My marks decreased as much as my ambition and hope. My admiration for life nearly disappeared, and I was living in horrible circumstances.When my daughter turned 1, I realised that I would forever be the one she looks up to, and being in a slump was the worst possible example I could set for her. She deserves the best mother I can be. The decision to strive to be the best version of myself was difficult, very lonely, and practically no one believed in me. The only hope I had left was knowing I will one day escape my personal hell.I matriculated with 5 distinctions in the Top 10. I finally moved 1,200 km away from home and restarted my life with very little to begin with. I am in the fortunate position today to be able to have what I want, and give my daughter what her heart desires. I was elected student rep for English 1A (literature) at the University of Johannesburg in 2022, but I've decided to approach my studies via Unisa as I work full-time. After school, I struggled to find my path but eventually discovered SEO, a field that perfectly combined my love for writing, communication, and analysis. With my dad's guidance, I began my career in SEO, and it has since become my passion.I never stopped pushing to be better, and I never will (even though for the first few years I had no one by my side). My advice to any young woman struggling to find herself is to work hard, even when you don’t feel like it. Never settle; always strive for more, and if you push hard enough, you can achieve your goals.My goal is to give my daughter the best life. To be able to easily support and spoil my growing family. And to teach my kids to never settle. You are worth more than any company could offer, so always strive to make the most of life. A lot can change in 6 years.
