I am an experienced geological consultant, with particular knowledge of structural geology (PhD), sedimentology (MSc), and basin analysis BSc(Hons). As the conceptual founder of Leapfrog software (2001), I have used Leapfrog to interpret and model more than 600 deposits of many commodities worldwide. I continue to research new methods of presenting, processing, and interpreting 3D geological data for the benefit of the mining and mineral exploration industries, and am also involved in running workshops for National Exploration Under cover School (NExUS) at the Univ of Adelaide with Dr Richard Lilly for young professionals.In 2003, I wrote the first research paper on the application of implicit modelling to mining and exploration geology, and in August 2011 I presented a research paper on geological modelling without wireframes—another first in the mining industry— at the AusIMM International Mining Geology Conference. (download publications below).The practical application of structural geology at the deposit-scale to benefit the mining and geological exploration communities is the focus of JunCowan (Trading name of Prestologic Pty Ltd).My current research focuses on the combined application of modern geological modelling methods and traditional structural analysis. My interests focus on ore deposit geometries and what they tell us about ore emplacement, which in turn can tell us more about where we can explore for mineral deposits.Specialties: exploration targeting (both near-mine, and greenfield), rapid geological modelling, implicit modelling, Leapfrog expert, structural analysis, resource evaluation, upside analysis of exploration properties, workshops covering techiques of applied structural geology at the deposit-scale.
